About
ULINK began as an initiative to supplement the academic pursuit of game development mastery through unstructured exploration, experimentation and practice opportunities.
The ULINK game development club aims to do the following:
- Help people get better at all the skills required to make interactive media projects including games and interactive art.
- Help foster community between professors, industry, former students, currents students and community.
- Rather than just talking about games, the aim will be to make them over and over again. Starting with ideation, and progressing through concept definition, visual development, animation, prototyping, coding, music compostion, sfx and vfx.
- Take an iterative and progressive approach both to making games and improving our skills.
- Where possible, we will explore collaboration opportunities with industry.
- Create a conduit between Durham and Toronto by running events in both places throughout the year.
- Provide leadership opportunities to students with strong skills that align with game development.
- Ultimately to provide the opportunity for participants to become masterful interactive media creators.
- Emphasize mentorship opportunities between experienced game developers and those learning.
- Explore a variety of techniques, game engines, tools and programming languages.
- Create content to share.
